Seven bike paths to check off your spring bucket list

As temperatures rise and days get longer, it’s time to transition your workout routine from studios to the great outdoors. Colorado offers an endless playground of bike trails for both the cycling novice and the advanced adventurer. Whether mountain biking in Summit County or commuting to work in Denver, take advantage of the best bike paths in the state with incredible views of the spring season.

And, don’t worry, whether you have your own bike or need to rent from Denver B Cycle  or borrow—there are lots of options to get out on two wheels!

Cherry Creek Trail — Denver

This 42-mile paved pathway follows alongside Cherry Creek all the way from Downtown Denver to Franktown, weaving between commercial areas, residential neighborhoods and high prairie grasslands and cottonwood groves. City dwellers and those seeking to enjoy downtown sites should stay close to Confluence Park, while those looking for more mileage and less congestion should head further south. This trail offers several Denver B Cycle stations  for those looking for a convenient rental.

South Platte River Trail — Denver

As the name denotes, this path follows the South Platte River all way from Adams county, through the heart of Denver, and south through Littleton. If you venture out on this 18 mile paved path, make sure to stop by Hudson Gardens for a quick break or bite to eat.

Waterton Canyon Trail — Jefferson County

This 6.6-mile trail starts at the southern end of Chatfield State Park and Reservoir up and leads up to the canyon toward mountain bike trails. If you’re looking for a beautiful nature setting without driving up into the mountains, this dirt path is a great option.

Frisco/Keystone Out & Back — Summit County

Ideal for beginners, this 27-mile path offers amazing views of Lake Dillion and the Dillon Dam. Suitable for the whole family, riders will enjoy sweeping mountain and water views. Pack a lunch and enjoy a lakeside picnic during or after your ride.

Loveland Pass — Summit County

For the extreme riders, Loveland Pass offers an 8.7-mile or 17.5-mile round-trip classic alpine climb. You can take in the sights as you climb past Arapahoe Basin Ski Area on the shoulder of the road to the parking area above tree line on the Continental Divide. This climb is ideal for advanced cyclists.

Garden of the Gods: Ute Trail — Colorado Springs

Perfect for beginners and visitors to Colorado Springs, the Ute Trail in Garden of the Gods offers a leisurely ride through extraordinary scenery. Take in the natural rock formation views with the whole family on this relaxing trail.

Bear Creek Canyon Loop — Colorado Springs

An 8-mile advanced trail, Bear Creek Canyon Loop offers an excellent workout with a 2,200 feet ascent in the first five miles. Complete with amazing forest views, expect stream crossings and wildlife visitors on your ride.

Quick tip – if your bike needs a tune-up, look to Beeline Bikes  for mobile bike repair that comes to you! So, what are you waiting for? Lace up those shoes, buckle your helmet and grab your water—it’s time to get outside on two wheels!
